April 2019 Book Club: Serious Moonlight

The Book

Our pick for April 2019 is Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett, which will be released on April 16, 2019.

Why did we pick this book?

We both loved Jenn Bennett’s book Alex, Approximately, which released in 2017. It’s one of our all-time favorite YA contemporaries, so we knew we had to pick up Bennett’s latest book. We’re also intrigued by the description, which promises a cozy mystery and a cute romance.

What is it about?

Birdie Lindberg starts working at a hotel in Seattle, Washington the summer before college. She’s not used to socialization, considering she was raised by her grandparents and was home-schooled. Lucky for her, fellow hotel employee Daniel Aoki is there to help her come out of her shell.

The two bond and discover a mystery at the hotel. A famous author, who hasn’t been seen in public, could be secretly meeting someone at their hotel. The two go on a quest to discover the writer’s identity, but Birdie realizes that the most surprising mystery of all may be her growing feelings for Daniel.
