We’re starting our book club again with Bards Alley, an independent bookstore in Vienna, VA. This time it’ll be virtual and anyone is welcome to attend. It’s planned for July 20th at 7 p.m. Let us know if you want the details! We picked this book off the FCPS summer reading list!
What is this book about?
This book follows Shirin, a 16-year old Muslim girl navigating life post-9/11. She tired of the stereotypes and stares she gets every time she leaves her home. It’s gotten so bad that she keeps everyone at arms length. That was until she met a guy, who seems to get her in a way that nobody else can. But, they come from two different worlds, making it almost impossible for anything to happen. 2002 is a hard year for Shirin and she has to decide what is worth fighting for.
