Questions

✦ Name a book you dislike that everyone seems to love?

Claire: I didn’t love the ACOTAR books. I enjoyed them, but they were never my faves!

Christy: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is one book I had to DNF. A lot of people love it, but I just couldn’t get into it.

✦ What’s one of your favourite bookish quotes?

Claire: “Life is a book and there are a thousand pages I have not yet read.” — Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess

Christy: “You see, a conflict always begins with an issue – a difference of opinion, an argument. But by the time it turns into a war, the issue doesn’t matter anymore, because now it’s about one thing and one thing only: how much each side hates the other.” ― Neal Shusterman, Unwind

✦ Which book character(s) would you want to hang out with during this pandemic and why?

Claire: Probably Will, Tessa, and Jem from my favorite series, The Infernal Devices. I think they’d be so much fun and are always up to something, so at least quarantine would be an adventure.

Christy: Right now I’d pick the characters of 10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston. I have a large Italian family who I miss, so it would be fun to spend the holidays with this group.

✦ Do you have a favorite toy from childhood or now?

Claire: I was obsessed with Polly Pockets.

Christy: I had so many Polly Pockets too. Thankfully they didn’t go to waste and my little cousins have them all now.

✦ If you had to choose, would you rather become a vampire or a werewolf?

Claire: Vampire. Low key, I was obsessed with Twilight back in the day, so that would make pre-teen Claire’s dreams come true.

Christy: Can I be a mermaid instead?

✦ Which authors would you invite to a dinner party?

Claire: Jane Austen, Cassandra Clare, and JLA.

Christy: Cassandra Clare, Karen McManus and Jenn Bennett.

✦ Would you rather be able to fly or breathe underwater?

Claire: Fly.

Christy: Fly.

✦ Have you ever wanted to visit somewhere because it sounded great in a book?

Claire: Yes! The Infernal Devices series made me want to go to London so badly. I really wanted to see all the major sites our favorite shadowhunters saw back in their time. It lived up to the hype.

Christy: Love & Gelato made me want to visit Florence. Hopefully soon!

✦ What do you do to drag yourself out of a reading slump?

Claire: I re-read a book I know and love.

Christy: Re-reading a book I love an haven’t read in a few years.

✦ Your top 3 fictional book boyfriends/girlfriends?

Claire: Will Herondale (The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare), Aiden St. Delphi (Half-Blood series by JLA), and Luca Falcone (Blood for Blood series by Catherine Doyle.)

Christy: Porter Roth (Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett), Stellan Korolev (The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall) and Luca Falcone (Blood for Blood series by Catherine Doyle.)

✦ If you were to write a book, what do you think your main character would be called?

Claire: I feel like a name would just come to me. Right now I’d probably pick a name like Emma or something, ha!

Christy: The MC’s name in the next book I want to work on is Monica.

✦ What’s your favourite breakfast food?

Claire: French toast— hands down.

Christy: Does black coffee count?
