The Book

Influence was released on January 5, 2021.

Why did we pick this book?

We chose Influence because we’re big fans of Shepard’s other YA books. Her thrillers are always twisty and complicated. When we heard she co-wrote a book with a teen social media influencer about the dark side of the spotlight, we couldn’t wait to read it.

What is this book about?

When you see them on your screens, their lives seem prefect. But these teens who rose to fame quickly are hiding dark secrets. Delilah Rollins goes viral after a video of her rescuing a puppy. Jasmine Walters-Diaz cannot escape her past as a child star. Fiona Jacobs is popular and a lot of fun, who wouldn’t like her? The person who’s blackmailing her for starters. Scarlet Leigh is supposed to be perfect, with her crazy fandom army and hot boyfriend. But what is she hiding behind? For these four social media stars, things are about to get more complicated, especially when a murder is involved.

What other YA books have the authors written?

Shepard is the bestselling author of the Pretty Little Liars series. She also wrote The Amateurs, The Perfectionists and The Lying Game. This is Buckingham’s debut novel.

  1. This sounds like a good read! I love thrillers and the social media spin sounds modern and fresh. The fact that one of the authors was responsible for Pretty Little Liars is also a draw. Thank you for sharing.
