🍂 Q U E S T I O N S 🍂

1. What book always reminds you of fall/autumn?

Killing November (Killing November #1)

Ever since reading Killing November last October, it feels like the perfect book of the season. The spooky and remote setting of the book gives off the perfect autumn vibes. November Adler has no idea where she is or what she’s doing at Academy Absconditti, but there’s nowhere else for her to go. This series is set in autumn and at a creepy academy without electricity. If you’re a fan of thrillers and complex puzzles, Mather’s books are for you.

2. What is your favorite autumnal book cover?

The covers for Serpent & Dove and Blood & Honey make us think of autumn immediately. These are some of the most beautiful covers in YA and they make us ready for Halloween. We were obsessed when we read Serpent & Dove in fall 2019. The concept of a witch and a witch hunter being forced to get married hooked us immediately. We recommend his series for anyone in the mood for a YA high fantasy.

3. What is your favorite autumnal drink to read with?

Coffee, coffee, coffee! Christy loves her iced black coffee and drinks it all year long. For something autumn though, definitely apple cider. It’s so refreshing and it’s perfect for drinking outside with a good book and a blanket.

4. Do you prefer to read late at night or early in the morning?

Late at night!! We’re not morning people. Reading at night in a cozy chair is perfect for this time of year. There’s something fun about reading mysteries/thrillers at night.

5. Halloween is coming! What is your favorite spooky read?

That’s such a hard question! We literally have a list of 31 Books to Read Before Halloween, which cover most of our favorite spooky reads. Our favorite spooky read from 2021 was The Cousins by Karen McManus, which we read for our January Book Club. The setting on a creepy island off the coast of Massachusetts and the incognito grandmother that the MCs have never met before were perfect for an engaging mystery. If you haven’t read this book, you won’t be disappointed.

6. What is the ultimate comfort read for you?

30312700. sy475

Alex, Approximately is the ultimate YA contemporary comfort book. It’s funny, romantic, clever and has realistic characters. Bailey Rydell moves out to California to live with her dad. She never expected to meet the hot, arrogant and annoying Porter Roth. He’s everything Alex, her online film friend is not. Too bad for Bailey she has no idea that Porter is Alex.

7. What is your favorite autumnal reading snack?

Apple cider donuts are the absolute best snack for autumn. A family farm nears us sells them at their fall festival and they’re insanely delicious. We wish we could get them all year long.

8. What is your favorite autumnal candle to burn whilst reading?

Usually something apple or pumpkin is up our alley. One candle we’re excited to try is sparkling rosé. It smells amazing and comforting.

9. When you’re not reading, what is your favorite autumnal activity?

There are so many fun autumn activities so it’s hard to choose. It’s probably a tie between going to the pumpkin patch and visiting a Halloween haunt event.

10. What is on your autumn/fall reading list?

25639296

55648616

We have a lot of books on our list, but we’ll share three we’re really excited to read. The Darkest Corners by Kara Thomas, Gods & Monsters by Shelby Mahurin and They’ll Never Catch Us by Jessica Goodman. Bring us all the spooky books this autumn!
