We’re so excited for all the amazing YA books releasing this summer. We came up with a list of the seven book we want to read ASAP. From twisty thrillers to sweet romances, we think there’s a book for everyone. Grab some iced coffee, a pair of cute sunglasses and get ready to read this summer.
What are you reading this summer and which releases are you looking forward to most? Let us know in the comments!
1. The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Finally, The Final Gambit is releasing on August 30th, just in time for Labor Day weekend. We loved The Inheritance Games and The Hawthorne Legacy, so we need to know how Barnes concludes this amazing trilogy. Avery Grambs is so close to becoming the richest teenager in the world. But there’s more puzzles and riddles to solve with the Hawthorne brothers. With the eyes of paparazzi on her, Avery has to survive a few more weeks in this creepy house.
2. Nothing More to Tell by Karen McManus

Like The Final Gambit, Nothing More to Tell releases on August 30th. Nothing More to Tell follows Brynn, who left an elite school after her favorite teacher was murdered. Four years later, Brynn is determined to find out exactly what happened. She knows someone at that school got away with murder and she’s got a feeling that the person never left Saint Ambrose School.
3. Rivals by Katharine McGee

We were thrilled when we found out about Rivals, the third book in the American Royals series. Rivals released May 31th and follows Queen Beatrice, Princess Samantha, Nina and Daphne as they move to the next phases of their lives. Each character as new challenges ahead and everything is bound to get dramatic. We can’t wait to revisit this alternate version of the United States and our hometown of Washington D.C.
4. Love & Other Great Expectations by Becky Dean

If you know us, you know we love books set outside the United States. Love & Other Great Expectations brings Britt Hanson to England for scavenger hunt based on classic novels. The prize money would easily help her pay for college. This book promises to be a romantic adventure that take place all across the country, not just the big cities. Also, we’re obsessed with this cover!
5. I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston

Chloe Green hates her life in Alabama, after moving from Southern California. The only thing that makes her happy is the prospect of winning valedictorian at her annoying school. Her only competition is Shara Wheeler, the principal’s daughter. One day Shara kisses Chloe…and then vanishes. Chloe finds out she wasn’t the only one Shara kissed: there’s also football player Smith and bad boy Rory. Together, the unlikely group tries to figure out what happened to Shara and bring her back. I Kissed Shara Wheeler released May 3rd and we’ve seen amazing review for this book.
6. Those Summer Nights by Laura Silverman

After one bad injury, Hannah ends her Olympic dreams. Hannah just wants to be distracted this summer. Once she gets a job at Bonanza – an arcade/mini-golf/bowling facility- she’s ready to have fun and flirt with her cute co-worker Patrick. But when her boss announces a fun employee competition, Hannah is taken back to her injury and former life. We really liked Silverman’s last book Recommended For You so we can’t wait to read Summer Nights, which released on June 7th.
7. Exactly Where You Need to Be by Amelia Diane Coombs

We came across Exactly Where You Need to Be recently on Goodreads. It released last week on June 7th. Florie’s OCD and her mother’s worrying have stopped her from living. With her best friend leaving for college, Florie decides to take a gap year. But now Florie is having second thoughts and questions who she wants to be. So with her best friend Kacey, the two (with Kacey’s hot older brother) head out on an unforgettable summer road trip. Let’s see if they can get to San Francisco and back to Washington state before their parents find out.
what a great tbr, YA contemporary is so perfect for the summer! Haven’t read Inheritance Games but hopefully I’ll find time to do that before the third book releases.
