We found the Life’s a Beach Book Tag a few weeks ago and thought it would fun to participate during the last full month of summer. Grab your beach bag, pack your favorite book and enjoy the August sunshine. This tag was created by Lefty, the Left-Handed Book Lover and we found it on Read and Review It.
The Sand: A Book That Stuck with You Long After You Finished Reading It

We haven’t talked about Looking for Alaska by John Green in a long time, but no matter how long it’s been, it’s a book that will always stay with us. It’s a heartbreaking story about Alaska Young, told through the point of view of her friend Miles “Pudge” Halter. If you’re looking for a powerful thought-provoking book about friendship and mental health, we can’t recommend this enough.
Looking for Alaska also has some of the best quotes. Here is one of our favorites: “So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane,” – John Green.
The Sun: A Book That Burned You

As all our readers should know by now, 2022 is the year of Zodiac Academy. We read Zodiac Academy 7: Heartless Sky a couple months ago and the book destroyed us. Hear that Peckham and Valenti, the book had such an extreme ending that we had stop ourselves from throwing the book at the wall. To top it all off, we have to wait until December to see what happens to our favorite characters.
Without spoiling the ending to our readers, just know that the characters went through the worst violence they’ve ever faced and we don’t know the status of all of them. We just want the Vega twins and the Heirs to be okay.
The Waves: A Book That Calms You Down After a Long Day

Wanderlost has everything we love in a YA contemporary: romance, humor and travel. If we want to read something to assure a smile on our faces, Wanderlost is the way to go. It allows us to travel all over Europe, from Prague to Cinque Terre. And the characters are all dynamic and entertaining. Hold that thought, we want to go reread this ASAP.
The Bathing Suit: A Book with a Pretty Summery Cover

Alex, Approximately is the ultimate summer romance. Set at a beach town in central California, Bailey Rydell just moves in with her dad from the east coast. Bailey meets the annoyingly hot Porter Roth as soon as she moves to town and they can’t stand each other. Too bad Bailey has no idea that Porter Roth is Alex, the guy Bailey chats with online in a film lovers forum. Nothing about this summer is going to be predictable for Bailey. If you’re looking for a sweet summer romance with fun characters, pick up our favorite Jenn Bennett book.
The Birds: A Book That is Everywhere

We read These Hollow Vows for book club in March and enjoyed the clever fantasy book. These Twisted Bonds released on July 19th and we’ve already seen the sequel everywhere. With the huge cliffhanger at the end of book one, we’re curious to see what happens to Brie with all the fae. So far, the sequel has great reviews and other bloggers have enjoyed it. We can’t wait to return to this world.
The Company: A Book with Wonderful Characters

The Ivy will always be one of our favorite YA book series. Sadly, the author Lauren Kunze hasn’t published since 2013. Callie Andrews starts Harvard and is quickly brought into the world of the supper wealthy northeast elite…and she’s drowning. We absolutely love the characters in this series, including Callie’s roommates and the guys across the hall. These students have a crazy, fun and dramatic freshmen year of college.
The Ice-Cold Drinks: A Book You Absolutely Gulped Down

We read The Anatomical Shape of a Heart in one sitting, which should tell you that we didn’t want to put it down. We’re big fans of Jenn Bennett and wanted to read her series about two creatives living in San Francisco. We also love an adorable romance, so we had to know how the relationship between Jack and Beatrix progressed.
The Fun Memories: A Book You Can’t Wait to Return to

We’re eager to return to The Last Hours trilogy. By the time Chain of Thorns releases in 2023, it’ll be almost two years since we read Chain of Iron. Every time the publication date got pushed back, we became so sad. We need to reread the first two books to make sure we remember everything that happened before the January 31st release date. We’re ready to get back to Cordelia, Matthew, James, Lucy and the rest of the Merry Thieves.
