Summer is a a great time for reading. The weather is nice and we love to enjoy a book outside. This year we created a summer reading challenge. Use our prompts if you like and answer with the book that you want to read during the summer. Our prompts focus on YA books, but feel free to use the prompts for any type of book.
This blog post is all about the ultimate summer reading challenge.
1. The Most Anticipated YA Summer Release on Your TBR

Our most anticipated summer release is The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, featuring Grayson Hawthorne and Jameson Hawthorne. Grayson and Jameson both have their own adventure on opposites sides of the world. We can’t wait to see what is in store for these characters.
2. A YA Book on Your TBR

Loveboat Reunion by Abigail Hing Wen has been on our TBR for a while. It’s the sequel to Loveboat, Taipei and follows Sophie Ha and Xavier Yeh. We defintely need to read this book soon, considering we learned there is going to be a third book in the series called Loveboat Forever, which releases in November.
3. A YA Book Set at the Beach

We read a great summer beach read recently, Picture-Perfect Boyfriend by Becky Dean, which is set in Hawaii. Kenzie and her family are spending a week in Hawaii for a family vacation. But when the boyfriend who Kenzie made up shows up in real life, things are about to get interesting. If you’re looking for a book set by the beach, pick up this YA contemporary.
4. A YA Summer Romance

Summer Days and Summer Nights is a collection of twelve short stories featuring summer romances. The authors include some amazing names in YA, including Cassandra Clare, Jennifer E. Smith and Stephanie Perkins. We can’t wait to read all twelve stories.
5. A YA Book to Movie or TV Show Adaptation

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz is on our TBR and the movie adaptation is expected to release in 2023. For musical fans, Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of Hamilton, was one of the producers. We defintely need to read it before we watch the movie version.
6. A YA Mystery or Thriller with Summer Vibes

We just learned about The Reunion by Kit Frick recently and couldn’t wait to add it to our TBR. The book is set an elite Carrbbean resort and follows the Mayweather family reunion. It has been years since the Mayweather family have all been together, but this isn’t going to be a typical family gathering. This YA thriller looks exciting and it’s set at a beach destination.
7. A YA Book from a Debut Author

Bellgarde is from debut author Jamie Lilac and we’re so excied to read it. First of all, it’s set in Paris. Second, it’s advertised as Bridgerton meets She’s All That. While were unsure which time period this book is set during, we know it’s a historical romance. We can’t wait to read this book soon.
8. A YA Book from a Seasoned Author

The Legacies by Jessica Goodman is one of our most anticipated summer releases. This book promises to a glitzy thriller, which follows a group of elite prep school students in New York City. Set during the initiation of several students to the exclusive Legacy Club, nobody expected the most glamorous event of the season to take a dark turn. This book gives us dark Gossip Girl vibes.
9. A Feel-Good YA Book

Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon has great reviews and based on the reviews, looks to be a feel-good YA read. It follows Rowan and Neil right before they graduate high school and how these two rivals might have amazing chemistry.
10. A YA Book Set During the Summer

Field Notes on Love by Jennifer E. Smith promises an epic summer adventure before starting college. Hugo and Mae go on a trip through the United States by train and meet under strange circumstances. They didn’t expect to fall for each other or for this trip to encourage both of them to persue their dreams.
11. A Favorite YA Book to Reread

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett might be our favorite summer romance. Seriosuly, it’s one of the cutest YA books ever and it’s set at a beach town. Bailey and Porter have amazing chemistry in this hate to love romance. If you’re in the mood for a sweet, funny and all-around amazing YA book, we recommend it.
I enjoy these types of challenges. I’m doing a 20 Book Summer challenge myself!
