The Book

The Davenports released on January 31, 2023.

Why did we pick this book?

We were in the mood for a historical romance and learned about this book. It’s the first in a series and promises to be swoonworthy. What really intrigued us were the four main characters. From the book decription, it seems like they all have very different personalities and interests.

What is this book about?

Set in 1910, The Davenports is a historical romance that follows a wealthy Black family. William Davenport made his fortune by founding the Davenport Carriage Company. The Story follows his two daughters Olivia and Helen and their friends Amy-Rose and Ruby.

Marquis noted in the description that book is based on the life of C.R. Patterson and his family.

Jade can’t wait to explore multiple countries during the semester and have a fresh start. But when Jade arrives in Amsterdam ready to set sail, she spots Silas and Lainey at registration. Jade never got closure, so she becomes obsessed with what happened with both Silas and Lainey.
