In Zodiac Academy 4: Shadow Princess, we left both Darcy and Tory on the worst night of their lives. Darcy and Orion made a serious mistake, one that could hurt every Fae in Solaria. While Tory ruined her personal life, possibly ending any hope of being with Darius Acrux.
Tory and Darcy have no idea how to proceed when it feels like everything is falling apart. But surprisingly, they find three unexpected allies: Seth Capella, Caleb Altair and Max Rigel, who have stopped their asshole ways and start to help the Vega twins. The three come up with a plan to try to fix everything between Darius and Tory.
We’re excited for out second unpopular book opinions post. In 2021 we wrote Unpopular Opinions: YA Ships, where we discussed couples we didn’t like and couples we believe should have been endgame.
In this post, we’re discussing popular YA books that we DNF’d. Just to be clear, we don’t DNF very often, it usually happens no more than two to three times a year. Let us know your thoughts in the comments and if you DNF’s any of the books we did.
1. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is a super popular YA book with of over a million ratings on Goodreads. The premise originally sounded interesting to us because we liked the idea of the MC visiting a creepy island full of secrets. We just found the writing to be dull and we didn’t connect with any of the characters. Unfortunately, this book was over-hyped and we couldn’t get through it.
We’re excited that we got to interview a creative indie author and share it with all of you! We had a chance to learn more about Will Scifi and talk to him about his latest book Nova’s Blade. We recently added it to our TBR. Sci-Fi writes YA science fiction and dystopian books and you can find out more about him here on his socials: | Author Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Amazon |
1. When did you first realize that you wanted to be a writer?
I believe it was senior year of high school back in 2015, and I suggested a movie idea to my dad. I just wanted to see if he thought it would be a good idea if someone had made it into a movie. That was when he suggested I write a book because many movies come from books. Also, during senior year, I dropped my calculus class since I was already going to graduate and go to college. In place of it, I took on creative writing as an elective because early that year I won a poetry contest at the high school. Up until the creative writing class I was only writing poetry from time to time. But between my creative writing class and my dad’s suggestion, I started writing stories. When I was doing it in creative writing class, I found I was good at it in terms of imagination, and I enjoyed it very much. So from there, I decided I wanted to write. I actually still have writings from high school on my computer. I’ll publish them sometime in the future after a lot of editing.

Millie Price wants nothing more than to be a Broadway Star. She loves living in NYC and can’t imagine spending her life anywhere else. But when she gets into a prestigious theatre program in Los Angeles for her senior year, Millie jumps at the chance to further her career.
It takes two people to cheat. That seems pretty obvious, yet it seems that the girl always takes the blame. Whether the girl actually takes part in the cheating or is “blamed” for “forcing” her boyfriend to cheat, she tends to take the brunt of the criticism.
We went through our shelves to find how many books that we’ve read that included cheating as a trope in love triangles and analyzed how the author portrayed the characters.
Do you have any more examples of cheating in YA? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
1. 99 Days of Katie Cotugno
99 Days is one of the most controversial books in the YA contemporary genre. Everyone on Goodreads seems to have a strong opinion on this book. It’s not a great book per se, but we like a lot of aspects about it.
