YA Books Set in New England

So many of our favorite books are set in New England. The six states (Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont and New Hampshire) are the perfect setting for a murder mystery or a contemporary romance. What are your favorite books set in New England? Let us know in the comments.

1. Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen McManus

Two Can Keep A Secret is a spooky YA mystery set in Vermont. When Ellery and Ezra move from LA to a small town in Vermont, unsolved murders seem to be the norm…some of which have to do with the amusement park they started working at. This mystery will give you major fall vibes and the full small town New England experience.

1. Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

Clare wrote the perfect start to her new shadowhunter series. I loved seeing Will, Tessa and Jem as adults. Plus, the next generation is just as exciting. Set in Edwardian London, James, Lucie, Matthew, Cordelia and their friends deal with demon attacks increase around the city. This book had everything: adventure, romance and mystery. Chain of Iron will hopefully be just as amazing in 2021. I need more Matthew Fairchild!

*We received this book in exchange for an honest review.*

When Josie Saint-Martin returns to her childhood home of Beauty, Rhode Island, she intends on only sticking around for a year. After all, a year seems like a long time when you’ve been moving from city to city with your mom for the better part of your childhood. Beauty may not be so bad this time around: Josie’s crazy grandma, Deirdre, has moved to Nepal for a one-year tour with the Peace Corps, and Josie plans on snagging a summer internship at Beauty’s premier magazine to boost her photography resume. The internship is Josie’s one-way ticket out of town before her grandma comes home and instigates World War III between the Saint-Martin women. Josie’s hoping her photographs will wow her famous photographer father into giving her an apprenticeship at his fancy LA studio.
