Zodiac Book Tag

We found this tag on My Book World and knew we wanted to participate! The prompts are really fun and different from anything we’ve done on the blog before. Even though it doesn’t directly deal with the Zodiac Academy series, we’re celebrating less than a month until the book eight release with this tag. Want to learn more about one of our favorite book series? Check out our Complete Guide to the Zodiac Academy Series.

Do you like the prompt for your Zodiac sign? Let us know in the comments!

A Comprehensive List of Banned YA Books

Happy Banned Book Week! Banned Book Week started in 1982 as a result of the increase in the number of books people were trying to get banned from schools and libraries. We’re celebrating the freedom to read by sharing all of the modern YA banned books we could find. We used information provided by libraries and the American Library Association’s Office of Intellectual Freedom to find banned and challenged books.

We encourage everyone to read banned books because if someone wants a book banned, there’s usually something important inside the cover for you to learn. Always question people who try to ban books and especially question their intent.

“Banning books gives us silence when we need speech. It closes our ears when we need to listen. It makes us blind when we need sight.” — Stephen Chbosky, author of Perks of Being a Wallflower

The Summer Bucket List Book Tag

Happy Labor Day everyone! With summer season coming to an end, we thought we would participate in one last fun book tag before we switch over to spooky season. We have to admit, this is our favorite time of year. September and October always bring beautiful weather and fun activities.

We saw this tag on Read and Review It and Her Digital Coffee. Their answers convinced us to participate. The tag was originally created by Read by Tiffany.

YA Books About Prom

It’s prom season now so we’re celebrating by sharing some YA books that feature this important coming of age dance. Prom is such a prominent night for high school students and it’s a big deal to the characters in the books below. So get out your sparkly dresses and fancy tuxes, we’re going back to high school in these stories. Do you know of a prom YA book that we missed? Let us know in the comments!

1. The Night When No One Had Sex by Kalena Miller

The Night When No One Sex skipped over the dance and went right to this group of friends getting ready for a crazy night without parental supervision. Prom is so romanticized and Miller chose to turn it into a comedy of errors. Right after the dance, this group of friends goes to a cabin in the woods to all have sex with their prom dates. Unfortunately, nothing goes as planned, making it a night they’ll never forget. This book is completely hilarious and is perfect for people who want to read about an unconventional prom night.

We can help with book recommendations. The YA City Guide is a new feature on our blog to recommend books set in a certain city. If you haven’t already, check out our precious city guides for Paris and London

Our next YA City Guide is New York City! The city that never sleeps. The Big Apple. We admit, we became obsessed with NYC because of Gossip Girl. We used to dream of strolling the streets of the Upper East Side like Blair and Serena. Here are some of our favorite YA books set in NYC!
