Review: Zodiac Academy 8: Sorrow and Starlight by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

Finally, seven months after reading Zodiac Academy 7: Heartless Sky, we’ve finished Zodiac Academy 8: Sorrow and Starlight. The book starts right where the previous left us off, at the end of a huge battle between Lionel Acrux’s loyalists and the resistance.

Everything has changed for the Vega twins. With Darcy Vega cursed by Lavinia, Darcy has no choice but to leave the resistance, since she’s a danger to everyone she loves. Tory Vega is trying to recover from the worst day of her life, while also trying to rebuild her troops.

Review: Dark Fae by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

Five years before the events of the Zodiac Academy series, a different group of Fae at Aurora Academy have a story to tell. Elise Callisto is out for vengeance. After her brother Gareth Tempa was murdered by one of the four kings of Aurora Academy, Elise is determined to get her revenge. The only problem is that Aurora Academy has four kings: Gabriel Nox, Leon Night, Dante Oscura and Ryder Draconis.

These four guys rule the school and professors almost let them get away with anything. But getting near them could be dangerous, especially Dante and Ryder, who are going to become leaders of waring gangs upon graduation. Nothing is safe about this school and Elise has to accept that risk if she’s ever going to get answers.

Review: Zodiac Academy 7: Heartless Sky by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

We left Tory Vega, Darcy Vega and the Heirs after they went to battle with Lionel Acrux. After everything that happened, none of them can go back to Zodiac Academy. Luckily Geraldine’s dad and other anti-Lionel Fae have set up a safe bunker far away from the palace.

But everything has changed now and there’s no going back to normal for anyone, especially the Heirs, who Lionel has stripped of their titles for standing against him. To make things more complicated, Darius made a promise to the stars…that no one knows about. He’s ready to face the consequences, yet everyone he knows would try to stop him.

Nobody is safe in Solaria and with a civil war brewing and all Fae most pick a side. Stand with the Vegas or let Lionel and is Nymph army continue the totalitarian rule.

Book Summary

Brie hates the Fae more than anything and wants to forget they even exist. But when her little sister is sold to the king of the Unseelie court to pay a debt, she’ll do anything to get her back. This means making a deal with this cruel king and stealing three magical relics from the Seelie court. While it’s easy to get to the Seelie court, the only reason she has to stay is to give herself as a potential bride for the prince.

Only, Prince Ronan isn’t who he seems and Brie is torn between hating his kind and falling in love with him. But at the same time, Brie spends time with some Unseelie outcasts who have an agenda of their own. She can’t help but be drawn to their mysterious leader Finn.

Review: Zodiac Academy 2: Ruthless Fae by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

The morning after the dramatic conclusion to Zodiac Academy 1: The Awakening, Tory Vega and Darcy Vega are ready to quit and return to Chicago, Illinois. At the last minute they decide they need to stay and fight, like true fae. They can’t physically overpower the Celestial Heirs yet…but they are smarter.

In order to get payback, Tory, Darcy and their friend group devise a plan something special and unique for each one, including burning down a room and starting a hilarious (yet embarrassing) rumor. It seems like the girls are starting to find their place here.
