Sara Shepard’s YA Books Ranked 

Sara Shepard has been a big name in YA since her debut series Pretty Little Liars released in October 2006. Since then, Shepard has released other YA series and standalones.

We’ve been reading her YA books for years and we’re excited to share our thoughts with all of you. The good news, we’ve never disliked a book from Shepard. Keep reading to see our ranking.

1. The Amateurs

The Amateurs was Shepard’s most recent series and it’s a trilogy set in the Northeast. Years ago, Helena Kelly went missing and her little sister Aerin never recovered.

Now, a group of amateur detectives, including Aerin, true crime enthusiast Seneca and their new friends Maddox, Madison and Brett, meet up in Connecticut to figure out what really happened to Helena. Too bad this group is in way over their heads and the mysterious killer is closer than they think.

1. The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare

Set five years after The Mortal Instruments, we see Emma Cartiars and Julian Blackthorn at age 17. The Dark Artifices follows a group of shadowhunters at the Los Angeles Institute. Emma and Julian investigate a demonic plot, which takes through the city and around the amazing beaches. The Dark Artifices features old favorite characters, but has a completely different vibe from Clare’s other books. LA is a lot different from NYC and London. If you’re looking for a fantasy with California sunshine, look no further!

1. Chain of Gold (the Last Hours #1) by Cassandra Clare

As we’ve said before, we read every Shadowhunter book the moment it is released. Chain of Gold is set in Edwardian London and follows James Herondale, son of fan favorites Tessa and Will! The book will be released on March 3, 2020— so mark your calendars!
