Recently we’ve enjoyed seeing other book bloggers participate in the birthstone book covers every month. Seeing those posts made us wonder if there was a birthstone book tag out there. Well, we found it!
Halloween season is the best time of year to bring out your favorite mystery, thriller or horror books. Sitting under a warm blanket with a cup of hot chocolate, tea or coffee and reading by candlelight on a chilly night is the perfect way to spend an October night. We have some recommendations for our readers, both old and new YA books, to make this month one full of fright. keep reading…if you’re brave enough.
Happy spooky season everyone! This tag was created by Shelby Masako and we found it to be really fun. We love Halloween and fall in general, so we thought this tag would be perfect for October.
In need of a YA series to binge? We have some awesome recommendations for series to read through immediately. Whether you want something cute and fluffy for summer, or a dark thriller for autumn, we have something for everyone.
1. Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard
Pretty Little Liars became a cult classic when the TV show released in 2010. But, we think the books are much better. Three years after Alison DeLaurentis disappears, former friends Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily start receiving mysterious text messages from someone named A. Pretty Little Liars is a perfect binge series because there are 16 books and two companion novels. Just get ready, the YA series is full of thrills and is even darker than the show.
This tag was originally created by booktuber Marc Nash, but we found it on Read Betwixt Words. We thought it looked fun and decided to participate! Tell us what you’ve been reading in the comments!
1. The Last Book I Gave Up On
More Than Just a Pretty Face was one of our only DNFs of 2021. We couldn’t get into it at all!
Happy Halloween everyone! To celebrate this time of year, we decided to reread one of our favorite series about witches: The Secret Circle by L.J. Smith. We read the original trilogy: The Initiation, The Captive and The Power. While we love the other three books: The Divide, The Hunt and The Temptation, they were actually written later by ghost writer Aubrey Clark. We decided to stick with the original books to get us into the Halloween spirit.
We’re starting a new series on the blog where we share our unpopular YA book opinions. For this one, we’re sharing our opinions about ships we loved, but the couple didn’t end up together or ships we think are overrated.
Let us know your unpopular YA romance opinions in the comments!
1. The Secret Circle Love Triangle
The Secret Circle series by L. J. Smith follows Cassie Blake as she moves to New Salem, Massachusetts and discovers her mysterious heritage. Cassie is a witch and she joins a coven, who needs a 12th member to complete the circle. Something sinister starts happening in New Salem when a group of witch hunters show up.
This is Halloween, everybody scream! October is such a fun month. The leaves are changing (at least up north), Halloween decorations start, and people get ready to read and watch something spooky. Last year we came up with a list of 31 YA Books to Read Before Halloween. This year, we created a Halloween book tag.
Get ready for some mysteries, thrillers and horrors. After all, what’s Halloween season without a spooky book. What’s your favorite October read? Let us know in the comments!
1. Favorite Scary Book
Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Samantha wakes up from a horrible accident with amnesia. She has no idea how she came to be involved in the terrible accident that led to the death of her best friend, Cassie. Before the accident, Samantha had the perfect life: the hottest boyfriend, endless wealth, and a posse of friends. After she wakes up, Samantha tries to reinvent herself and grows closer to her brother’s best friend while the two try to piece together the night of Cassie’s death. This book had a very shocking ending full of many twist and turns. It kept us up at night after finishing just thinking about it. The mystery was engaging and left you dying (pun intended) to piece together the night of Cassie’s death. Definitely snag this one if you are looking for an excellent thriller with an equally stellar romance!
Do you love all the spookiness of October? So do we! To celebrate our six month anniversary of blogging, we compiled a list of young adult thrillers and mysteries to satisfy your book needs for the entire month. Leave a comment if you’ve read any of these and tell us your favorites. Happy Halloween!
