Review: Very Bad People by Kit Frick

*We received this book in exchange for an honest review.*

The three Bolan sisters look like they came from a fairy tale. With their freckled-faces and long auburn hair, they could easily come across as illustrations from your favorite stories. Except, their life is no fairy tale. Everyone in the small Upstate New York town knows what their mom did years ago. One day she picked all the girls up from school early and drove into a lake. The girls survived, she didn’t.

Kara Thomas’s YA Books Ranked

Kara Thomas is one of our favorite authors. She writes exciting, chilling and gripping YA mysteries/thrillers. We’ve ranked her one series and four standalone books below. We’ll continue to update this post when Thomas releases new books. If you want to learn more about Thomas, check out our interview with her from summer 2021.

1. The Prep School Confidential series

The Prep School Confidential series is reminiscent of Gossip Girl but with murder. It’s easily our favorite from Thomas so far. Right after she arrives, her roommate is murdered and Anne finds herself pursuing the mystery.

Book Review: The Holiday Switch by Tif Marcelo

Book Summary

Lila Castro loves her small town in Upstate New York that is obsessed with everything Christmas. One of the most famous holiday movies was filmed there and now every year tourists flock to the beautiful town. Lila also works at the Bookworm Inn, where scenes of the movie were filmed. Everything about this holiday season seemed perfect, until Lila’s boss tells her that she can’t work more hours over winter break because there’s a new seasonal worker joining the team.

Enter Teddy Veracruz: the owner’s nephew and a complete pain in the ass. He doesn’t follow directions and refuses to follow Lila’s checklist. One afternoon, Lila and Teddy switch phones, forcing them to get to know the other person instead of making rash judgements. These two will have to see if they can get along and maybe, just maybe, find love along the way.
