Book vs Movie: Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

Love & Gelato released in 2016 and made Jenna Evans Welch a popular name when it came to YA contemporary books. Netflix announced that the movie adaption of the book was coming out in 2022 and to say we were hesitant was an understatement. When we watched the trailer, we could already tell that a lot of changes were made. Still, we decided to give the movie a chance. Review: See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Barrett Bloom can’t wait for a fresh start in college. High school didn’t go so well and college is the perfect time to reinvent yourself. When Barrett wakes up on September 21st, immediately something is wrong. First, her high school nemesis is her roommate, next an obnoxious guy embarrasses her in physics, then she has a disaster interview for the school paper and finally, she sets a frat house on fire.

Life literally can’t get any worse…until Barrett wakes up on September 21st again, doomed to repeat the disaster day. Of course, she makes some changes so she can avoid doing the same things over and over again, but no matter what, she can’t escape the time loop.

The Book

Our pick for April 2019 is Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett, which will be released on April 16, 2019.

Why did we pick this book?

We both loved Jenn Bennett’s book Alex, Approximately, which released in 2017. It’s one of our all-time favorite YA contemporaries, so we knew we had to pick up Bennett’s latest book. We’re also intrigued by the description, which promises a cozy mystery and a cute romance.
