Review: Gods & Monsters by Shelby Mahurin

52535769. sy475

Finally, we finished the the conclusion to the Serpent & Dove series, Gods & Monsters. We first read Serpent & Dove back in 2019 and it was easily our favorite book of the year. While we liked Blood & Honey, it wasn’t quite as good as the first installment. Needless to say, we had high expectations going into the finale.

Gods & Monsters picks up after the devastating events of Blood & Honey. Ansel is dead and Lou is being possessed by Nicholina. To make things worst, Morgane is getting ready to attack and no one in Belterra is safe.

Author Interview: Will Scifi

We’re excited that we got to interview a creative indie author and share it with all of you! We had a chance to learn more about Will Scifi and talk to him about his latest book Nova’s Blade. We recently added it to our TBR. Sci-Fi writes YA science fiction and dystopian books and you can find out more about him here on his socials: | Author Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Amazon |

1. When did you first realize that you wanted to be a writer?

I believe it was senior year of high school back in 2015, and I suggested a movie idea to my dad. I just wanted to see if he thought it would be a good idea if someone had made it into a movie. That was when he suggested I write a book because many movies come from books. Also, during senior year, I dropped my calculus class since I was already going to graduate and go to college. In place of it, I took on creative writing as an elective because early that year I won a poetry contest at the high school. Up until the creative writing class I was only writing poetry from time to time. But between my creative writing class and my dad’s suggestion, I started writing stories. When I was doing it in creative writing class, I found I was good at it in terms of imagination, and I enjoyed it very much. So from there, I decided I wanted to write.  I actually still have writings from high school on my computer. I’ll publish them sometime in the future after a lot of editing.

Kara Thomas’s YA Books Ranked

Kara Thomas is one of our favorite authors. She writes exciting, chilling and gripping YA mysteries/thrillers. We’ve ranked her one series and four standalone books below. We’ll continue to update this post when Thomas releases new books. If you want to learn more about Thomas, check out our interview with her from summer 2021.

1. The Prep School Confidential series

13411546

The Prep School Confidential series is reminiscent of Gossip Girl but with murder. It’s easily our favorite from Thomas so far. Anne Dowling loves her privileged life in NYC— until she burns part of her school down and gets shipped off to a preppy boarding school in New England. Right after she arrives, her roommate is murdered and Anne finds herself pursuing the mystery.

Review: The Yearbook by Holly Bourne

Paige Vickers is most likely to be forgotten. She’s in year 11 and nobody really knows who she is and she’s okay with that. At least if nobody knows who you are, then mean girls Grace Langdon and Amelia Murray can’t make your life miserable.

Paige’s home life isn’t great either. Her older brother Adam moved away to start university, leaving Paige alone with her emotionally abusive father and complicit mother. It’s best for Paige to stay out of everyone’s way because they all treat her like she doesn’t exist.
