Review: Lying in the Deep by Diana Urban

Jade Miller is ready for a fresh start. After her ex-boyfriend Silas dumped her for her ex-best friend Lainey, Jade is ready to be thousands of miles away from both of them. Jade is spending the semester at sea on Campus on Board, a study abroad program for college students.

Jade can’t wait to explore multiple countries during the semester and have a fresh start. But when Jade arrives in Amsterdam ready to set sail, she spots Silas and Lainey at registration. Jade never got closure, so she becomes obsessed with what happened with both Silas and Lainey.

Michael Linden is ready to spend some time at his friend Jasper Kendricks’s beach house on Martha’s Vineyard. He’s excited for hanging out with his friend and relaxing on the beach. However, Linden feels like he doesn’t belong. Even though he attends a fancy New England prep school, he’s a scholarship student from East Boston.

Linden does whatever he can to fit in with his wealthy classmates and tries to act just like them. However, it’s not always easy, especially when Linden realizes the rules are different for his friends.
